Design, Roland Paxton, Yacht Designers of Cowes, Isle of Wight and the legendary Nelson line of seaworthy and fast Pilot launches (18 knots) conceived by Commander Peter Thorneycroft, of Cowes. The active global Nelson Boat Owner’s Club, which he founded with Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, hosts European cruises and member’s annual dinner at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, London.

Builder: Hinks of Appledore, Devon (circa 1980) and GRP Hull by Halmatic with refits 2005, 2015 and 2019 and always professionally maintained to a very high standard

A smart sea boat, this incomparable twin screw harbor launch is uniquely designed to power and plane with ease at 18 knots in the heaviest chop or swells and cruise at 15 knots.

This Nelson 34 was built as Her Majesty’s Custom and Excise Launch Puffin in 1980, but was finished to yacht standards with teak floors, trim and cabinetry and was sold into private hands four years later and in (2005) became “the toy” of boating enthusiast and famous British rock star and lead singer and composer of “The Who” – Pete Townshend from whom the present owner purchased her in 2018. Puffin was imported directly to Halifax, N.S. from Falmouth, Cornwall.  after a further refit by Falmouth Boat Works.
